Ghana 2

The mangoes were amazing!!! They were HUGE and super sweet! I tried getting some any time I could!

We drove for about 2 hours in hopes to find elephants. Finally about 20 minutes before getting home, we saw some. They were massive and absolutely beautiful!

Who needs T.V. when you've got this? Really!

They love Obama!

The sting beads around children's waistes are used to meassure their weight. If they get too loose it indicates weight loss, and vise versa.

Birth marks created by parents on child's belly and face. They are tribal marks that are redone at around age 8 for permanence.

Ghana 1 (May 2011)

Fufu: A very interesting soup that is eaten with your hands. That's right, no spoon. Hence the hand sanitizer and bowl of water next to it.

Lau and Larsen (May 2011)

We had Ana and John over for dinner last week. Those two are a riot! We stayed up playing Phase 10 and laughed all night! What a blessing it is to have family close by.

Resident Retreat: Park City (April 2011)

We went to Park City this past April for another "1st years" retreat; a VERY needed one too.  Some of the spouses got their nails done, while the rest of us climbed into the Ardema's mini van and drove up to a trail for some snow shoeing.  Well, actually, snowshoeing turned to just hiking, which turned into tag and ended in a race to see who could get back to the parking lot first.  Gosh, we love the group!

Afterwards we decided we'd head to the jacuzzi where we were staying... lets just say a few snow flakes quickly turned into a BLIZZARD.  But we all stayed out there for a good while, long enough in fact to take THESE shots!  This group is so much fun!  We spent the rest of the evening eating out and bowling!  It was so fun to get together and take a breather. As a team, as spouses and friends, we never fail to have fun!  We thank God for putting this 1st year team together; what a match!
